FIELDS, Cleo, a Representative from Louisiana; born in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, La., November 22, 1962; graduated from McKinley High School, Baton Rouge, La., 1980; B.A., Southern University, 1984, J.D., Southern University Law Center, 1987; nonprofit executive; lawyer, private practice; unsuccessful candidate for election to the One Hundred Second Congress in 1990; member of the Louisiana state senate, 1988-1993 1997-2008, 2019-2024; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Third and to the succeeding Congress (January 3, 1993-January 3, 1997); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Fifth Congress in 1996; unsuccessful candidate for election for Governor of Louisiana in 1995; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Nineteenth Congress (January 3, 2025-present).
