Andrew Hart
My name is Andrew Hart and I am graduating from the University of Utah with a bachelors in Data Science. My role in Agora is data collection which includes web scraping and interacting with the APIs of federal and local governments, as well as data cleaning and inserting data into our own database. I am passionate about this project and believe that it provides users with a healthy way to engage with politics. Professionally I enjoy statistics and solving new and interesting problems in the data science field. Outside of work and school I enjoy camping, mountain biking, and playing guitar. I am in the process of completing my capstone project through the Kahlert School of Computing and am currently employed as a Data Scientist at the Fire Safety Research Institute.

James Hart
My name is James Hart. I am a senior at the University of Utah, and I am graduating with an Honors Bachelor's of Computer Science in Fall 2025. I am part of Agora, my University of Utah Computer Science Capstone project. My role within the project is Lead Web Developer. I am responsible for creating most of the Agora website in Next.js, a React framework, besides the Civic Central page, which is Connor Dalley’s work. The feature that I am most proud of is my AI (LLM) historical figure chatbot, as it used multiple different APIs to create knowledgeable and relevant responses, as well as including the ability to listen to a custom AI (LLM) voice for the responses of each character. I am most interested in front-end development and Cybersecurity, both of which I used during the creation of Agora, as I created the website and ensured that the login and sign-up system was sufficiently secure against attacks.

Samuel Powell
I am a senior at the University of Utah and I am graduating this semester. I am completing my Bachelors in Computer Science. I am a member of Agora, my university capstone project. In this project I am the lead mobile developer. I created most of the app from start to finish in Flutter. I have used additional resources to help complete this project including, querying the congress.gov api and setting up python scripts to translate the needed data into JSON. The feature I am most proud of is the hemicycle chart on the mobile app because this had to be made completely from scratch. I enjoy solving problems and I have an eye for design. I am most interested in front-end and full stack development and I have skills from all of my classes and my capstone project to show that I can be one of the best in either field. Outside of programming I enjoy reading and playing video games and I have worked as a member of the University of Utah IT staff for 2 years.
